Pediatric Sedation Dentistry

At ICTeeth We Only Practice

Safe Sedation Dentistry

Sedation dentistry is endorsed by the American Dental Association and has proven to be an effective way to make children comfortable during their dental visit. At ICTeeth, we will give you full details about the process of sedation, as well as pre- and post-sedation instructions.

In-Office IV Sedation

For more complex restorative procedures, our pediatric specialists collaborate with Special Anesthesia Services, an anesthesia group that visits our office to provide their expertise. While your child is deeply sedated, they are closely monitored and will sleep comfortably throughout the treatment.

General Anesthesia

Occasionally, a more complex procedure may necessitate treating your child under general anesthesia. Our team is well-prepared for these situations. We collaborate with Christi, Wesley, and Surgicare to ensure your child receives top-quality hospital care.

What type of sedative is used?

Nitrous oxide – often called “laughing gas” – is an option our doctors may offer to make your child more comfortable.

It is not intended to put them to sleep. Your child will be able to hear and respond to any requests or directions your or our doctors may have.

How does the sedation work?

Our doctors will ask your child to breathe normally through their nose, and within a few short minutes, they should start to feel the effects of the nitrous oxide. Your child may feel light-headed or a tingling in their arms and legs. Some people say their arms and legs feel heavy. Ultimately, your child should feel calm and comfortable.

The effects of nitrous oxide wear off soon after the mask is removed. Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective sedative agent that will help your child relax. It is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask that fits over your child’s nose.

It’s important to tell your pediatric dentist about any medications or medical treatments your child is receiving before using a sedative or anesthetic.

First class care and friendly staff. Dr. Anderson is patient and extremely funny. He is very professional and listens and answers questions before administering the kid’s treatments. We have been going here for years and we would recommend their office to anyone!
